The
accent assessment is the first step. During
the assessment, you can expect the following:
|
the opportunity to discuss
your communication goals and needs |
|
a screening of perceptual skills to ensure
that you are able to hear differences among
the sounds of American English |
|
to read a word list and a paragraph, and
to speak spontaneously and conversationally. |
After the assessment is completed, we will
provide you with a written report about your
accent and time to discuss the report and training
goals.
|
to provide a basis for individualizing
the Advance American Accent Training Program
to fit your personal needs |
|
to target the specific vowel and consonant
sounds that differ from American English,
which can detract from your overall clarity |
|
to determine strengths and challenges
of your intonation patterns |
|
to determine whether there is a need for
additional goals (e.g., grammar, vocabulary,
rate of speech) |
|
to discover your personal goals for training |
|
to provide a quantifiable means of analyzing
progress, when compared with the post-training
assessment |
